~My Civic Story~

For My Civic Story, I was tasked to create a list of candidates to be interviewed; then, write interview questions and emails to each one. The list consisted of about 20 people; however, Mr. Blakely and I knew to cast our net wide. Of the 20, eight were interviewed. My goal with the interviews was to allow them to talk and tell their stories: the good, the bad, the challenging. The interview questions were to get to the heart of the story. They followed the three act structure style; however, I found I’d ask the questions in the order they would be most convenient to the interviewee’s responses.

After the interviews were finished, I shot B-roll of their place of work and anything else that pertained to what they were talking about. Most interviews were about 20 minutes. I had to whittle them down to 5 to 7 minutes. While editing, I knew I had to choose music that was engaging but fit the narrative of the story; so, I would choose music that was uplifting and cinematic.
